I do wish they had incorporated more elements during the second half of the show, like cards (which was a whole arc for Yo-han), but I can also understand that even that was merely a vessel for Yo-han to learn how to keep a pokerface and one up others. It was fitting. The episode shows a group of Buddhist monks gambling large amounts of money. Using Byung-wooks own words against him, Yo-han had declared that he was finally holding the hilt of the sword that is the law, and would finally declare judgment upon him. Though that ending does hint at him returning to play a larger role in a second season, if it ever gets made. The ending confirms to Yo-Han exactly what Sun-O told him before. He knows that Yo-Han is gusty and ambitious, deciding to use that to his advantage and team up with the newbie. Soo-yeon's journey was fulfilling as well--I think the writer has given her a chance at a new start once she gets out of prison.
